Singapore Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate – EPEC
Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) allows foreigners to stay in Singapore for up to one year to facilitate their job search in Singapore. Successful EPEC applicants are required to apply for a one-year Visit Pass from the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) to allow them to stay in Singapore.
The EPEC is not a work pass and does not allow the holder to work in Singapore. However, it allows you to enter Singapore & interview with Employers. Employers are aware that you are ELIGIBLE for an Employment Pass (Work Permit) as you hold a EPEC. Upon securing employment, the employer is required to submit an Employment Pass application to the Work Pass Division for consideration. You can start work after the Employment Pass application has been approved. The EPEC is issued on a one-time basis and is non-renewable.

Why Singapore?
How to overcome the biggest problem of finding an overseas job?
Answer: Be There.
Even if there are several job opportunities that suit your profile, overseas employers or placement agencies will ignore your application because you are not physically available.
To them, your availability would mean two things: whether you are in the country to face a personal interview and whether if selected you would be eligible to work.
In normal circumstances, you would enter a country on a Visit Visa. The visit / tourist visa is meant only for the purpose of tourism or business and you are not allowed to work on this visa. It is illegal.
So Singapore came up with a unique and thoughtful solution: The Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC).
The EPEC allows foreigners to legally enter Singapore with a clear intent of seeking employment.
You are allowed 1 year to look for a job and upon expiry, you will need to depart from the country. You can make multiple trips to Singapore during this one year.
With the EPEC you are not allowed to work, but only look for work. However as soon as you have finished interviewing with an employer and if you are offered a job, you will easily get an Employment pass that allows you to work and to bring your spouse and dependents to live with you in Singapore.
Also, you are allowed to get an EPEC only once and cannot be renewed.
With those reasonable conditions agreed upon, international job seekers can now look for an opening in Singapore.
The EPEC opens up a window of opportunity to Indians seeking a career in Singapore.
The EPEC not only allows you to search for a job, it also will provide you the exposure and experience of finding an overseas jobs.
If you have not traveled overseas earlier, it will allow you to see the closest developed economy to India and also build your travel history.
The EPEC is good in so many ways that it is something you can give it a shot.
It’s quick, it’s inexpensive & the chances of success are very high!
